An issue is affecting Ford Broncos produced between 2021 and 2024, which may cause complications not only for the car owner but also for other drivers on the road.

In certain models, the rear shock absorbers may have components that fail, causing them to come loose.
According to documents from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the source of this issue is linked to corrosion between the external reservoir, the shock absorber body, and the mounting flange in rear shock absorbers with long flanges. This corrosion can progress over time, creating upward force on the components and leading to excessive wear, which may result in the rupture of the external reservoir tube.

Ford has already addressed this issue by replacing long flange assemblies with short flange assemblies in some models. So far, there have been no reports of accidents or injuries related to this issue. However, 551 warranty claims have been submitted, along with two customer reports and one field report.

The recall has already begun, with individual owner notifications scheduled to start on February 3.
