Three teenagers from Florida were honored after helping save the life of a man who suffered a heart attack while trying to change a flat tire on the side of the road.

According to authorities in Broward County, Brody Murray, 17, and Logan Royer and Cody Magrone, both 16, were at a McDonald’s in Cooper City when they noticed a man struggling to change his car tire and decided to help him.

When they approached, the students noticed that Diego Fernandez-Delgado, 65, was having trouble breathing, sweating heavily and complaining of severe chest pain. The trio then called emergency services while staying by the driver’s side as they waited for help to arrive.

Footage released by police shows one of the teenagers telling the dispatcher that the man “was not feeling well at all.” Shortly afterward, emergency crews arrived at the scene and confirmed that Fernandez-Delgado was suffering a heart attack.

The driver was taken to a hospital in the region, where he underwent several medical procedures and was later discharged. Authorities said the teenagers’ quick response likely saved his life.

During a ceremony held in Cooper City, the three teens received official recognition from the city government. Cristian Fernandez, the driver’s son, emotionally thanked them for their help. “God didn’t send angels with wings. He sent those boys,” he said.
