Finnish company Marine Alutech Oy Ab announced it will deliver a new generation of landing craft to the Royal Netherlands Marine Corps.

The new Littoral Assault Craft (LAC) will replace the current LCVP models and are expected to enter service between 2026 and 2028, marking an important step in the modernization of the Dutch naval fleet.

Designed to meet the Force Design doctrine, the new vessels will enable simultaneous deployment of troops and equipment from amphibious ships positioned offshore. With improved performance, higher speed, extended range, and more powerful weapon systems, the LAC represents a significant advancement over current craft while remaining compatible with the Royal Navy’s current and future amphibious ships.

Marine Alutech, one of Finland’s leading defense companies, is rapidly expanding, with an order book of around $234 million and negotiations with seven NATO countries for new projects. The company plans to grow its workforce to around 500 employees by 2030, establishing itself as one of Europe’s major producers of military vessels.
