It seems that the richest and most powerful people in the world moored their luxury yachts in a single location for New Year’s Eve.
The information was shared by travel writer Jim Dobson on December 29 in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) profile. In the post, an image taken by Maritime Traffic shows multiple vessels docked in Saint Barthélemy and surrounding areas.
The Caribbean island, only 17 km long, is located in the Lesser Antilles, southeast of Saint Martin and Anguilla. “Pretty much every billionaire in the Caribbean has anchored their mega-yachts in St. Barth for New Year’s Eve,” Dobson wrote in the caption.
The port of Gustavia, located on the island of Saint Barthélemy, currently hosts 327 vessels, according to Maritime Traffic. On December 19, Dobson had predicted the massive presence of billionaires in the area for New Year’s Eve in a report for Forbes.
“Many will stay here over Christmas, traveling between the islands during the day before ending the holiday season with the famous St. Barth New Year’s Eve fireworks,” he said at the time.
The list includes Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, former NBA player Michael Jordan, and film producer David Geffen. Forbes also mentioned the presence of Bob Iger, CEO of Disney, host Dr. Phil, and Sergey Brin, co-founder of Google.
