Ferrari 296 Speciale combines lightness and F1 technology in 867 hp hybrid supercar (Instagram @ferrari)
Ferrari has unveiled the 296 Speciale and 296 Speciale A, more powerful and lighter versions of the 296 model, focused on extreme performance.
Both use the same plug-in hybrid setup, now with 867 hp—690 hp from the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine and 177 hp from the electric motor. The eight-speed transmission remains but has been tuned to better harness the power. Despite being hybrids, the models can drive up to 24 km in full-electric mode.
To further enhance performance, Ferrari reduced the vehicles’ weight (up to 60 kg less in the coupe version) by extensively using carbon fiber in the interior and body. Aerodynamics have also been improved with new bumpers, an aggressive rear diffuser, and a retractable rear wing. According to Ferrari, these changes increase downforce by 20% compared to the GTB and GTS models.
The suspension was recalibrated with titanium springs and dampers derived from the 296 GT3, while special Michelin tires provide improved grip.
With a more aggressive look, exclusive wheels, and technical solutions inspired by Formula 1, the 296 Speciale promises an intense driving experience. The estimated price starts at USD 464,000, although Ferrari has not officially announced the figure.
