FENRIS 6×6: new Franco-Belgian armored vehicle aims to combine mobility, heavy firepower and rapid response

The Belgian group John Cockerill Defense and the French manufacturer Arquus used Eurosatory 2026, in Paris, to present the FENRIS 6×6, a new fire-support vehicle designed to offer high mobility and combat power.

Equipped with a Cockerill 3105 turret and a NATO-standard 105 mm gun, the armored vehicle was developed to operate between light reconnaissance vehicles and heavy battle tanks, meeting a growing demand for more agile platforms on modern battlefields.

The result of John Cockerill’s acquisition of Arquus in 2024, the FENRIS combines French expertise in wheeled military chassis with Belgian weapons-system technology. Weighing 26 tons, powered by a 500-horsepower engine and able to carry three crew members, the vehicle can be transported by Airbus A400M aircraft, a feature that expands its use in rapid-response operations.

The platform’s main highlight is the Cockerill 3105 turret, equipped with an automatic loader and total capacity for 36 rounds. The 105 mm gun can perform both direct fire and indirect fire, reaching targets at distances between 10 and 11 kilometers. In addition, the vehicle features two 7.62 mm machine guns, panoramic sensors and 360-degree vision cameras, providing the crew with a high level of situational awareness.
