The TAC Armored Vehicles, a manufacturer from the United Arab Emirates, introduced a new modular anti-drone protection kit for its Jedi personnel carrier armored vehicle.

The “Active Anti-Drone Mesh” was developed to intercept explosive drones and rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) without adding significant weight to the vehicle, drawing on combat experiences observed during the war in Ukraine.

The system consists of a cable mesh that serves as a physical barrier against low-flying drone attacks, protecting the vehicle’s hull. The Jedi, based on the Toyota Land Cruiser 79 chassis, is the world’s first personnel carrier armored vehicle with a V-shaped hull designed to meet the STANAG Level II explosion protection standard. TAC emphasizes that the technology has no global equivalents.

The adoption of this kit reflects a trend of adapting to new drone threats in dense battlefields. Ukrainian and Russian forces had already used improvised solutions, such as nets and cage-like structures, to protect light vehicles.

With factory modular production, TAC aims to offer a more efficient and standardized defense, but has yet to decide whether the system will be standard in future models or available as an upgrade.
