Embraer has carried out the first flight of the C-390 Millennium destined for the Republic of Korea Air Force, marking an important step forward in the aircraft’s delivery process.
The test was conducted from the manufacturer’s facilities in São Paulo and marks the beginning of the final validation phase before entering service.
Following the maiden flight, the military transport aircraft will undergo a phase of testing and integration of specific systems required by the customer. This stage is essential to ensure that the model fully meets South Korean operational requirements, confirming its readiness for active service.
Designed for multi-mission roles, the C-390 can carry up to 26 tons and reach high speeds, being capable of performing tasks ranging from troop and cargo transport to medical evacuation, search and rescue, and humanitarian support. Another key advantage is its ability to operate from unprepared runways, expanding its use in challenging environments.
In addition, the aircraft can be adapted for aerial refueling in the KC-390 version, acting both as a tanker and as a receiver. With modern technology and compatibility with NATO standards, the model has been gaining global traction and has already been acquired by several countries, reinforcing its position as a replacement for older transport aircraft.
