With consistent drops in Tesla sales recorded since the beginning of 2025, the accumulation of vehicles in stock is practically inevitable.

But now, in an apparent move to reduce this stockpile, it seems Elon Musk’s companies are purchasing Cybertrucks that were sitting idle in inventory.

According to information shared by Electrek, hundreds of the electric pickups from Tesla have been delivered to SpaceX and xAI, all owned by Elon Musk.

Wes Morrill, Chief Engineer of the Cybertruck, confirmed that the companies are replacing their current vehicle fleets with Tesla Cybertrucks.

The report also revealed that other units of Cybertrucks (perhaps hundreds or even thousands) could be sold to other Musk companies in the coming weeks.

The Cybertruck, officially launched in 2023, was a major bet for Tesla. The electric pickup with a futuristic design and stainless steel body quickly drew attention, for better or worse.

Its base version features rear-wheel drive and a range of 400 km. It can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 180 km/h.

The AWD Cybertruck version has all-wheel drive and a 550 km range, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds, and reaches the same top speed as the previous version.

Finally, the Cyberbeast, its top-of-the-line version, can come with two or three electric motors. With three motors, the pickup goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 210 km/h. But what it gains in power, it loses in range, which drops to about 515 km.

Despite Tesla’s expectations for the launch, sales fell far short of projections. The Cybertruck suffered several recalls, which harmed the model’s image. In the third quarter of this year, Tesla recorded only 5,385 units sold.
