According to the GUR, the operation was carried out by soldiers of the special unit “Ghosts,” responsible for several strategic sabotage actions against Russian military targets on the peninsula. In addition to destroying the Su-24, Ukrainian drones also attacked multiple Russian radar stations during the same phase of operations.
Ukrainian authorities did not disclose the exact date or the specific airfield where the bomber was hit but confirmed that the actions occurred within the past two weeks. In total, eight Russian military targets were destroyed in Crimea during this period.

According to Ukrainian intelligence, drones from the “Ghosts” unit often strike a variety of strategic systems, including:
- Su-24 frontline bomber
- radio-transparent dome antenna
- 39N6 Kasta-2E2 radar station
- Orion UAV
- two 48Ya6-K1 Podlyot radar stations
- Russian military cargo train and Ural truck
It is not the first time Su-24 aircraft have been destroyed on the peninsula. In August 2022, remains of a Su-24MR were filmed after explosions at the Novofedorivka air base. More recently, Ukraine also released videos of strikes against a MiG-29 fighter at the Kacha airfield and against a naval helicopter Ka-27.
The ongoing operations reinforce Ukraine’s effort to weaken Russian air defenses and military infrastructure in the occupied Crimea.
