An unidentified drone crashed in the early hours of Monday (29) in Minsk, the capital of Belarus, after being intercepted by electronic warfare systems.
According to the country’s Ministry of Defense, the object was detected by air defense forces around 2 a.m. as it was flying through national airspace toward the capital.
Authorities reported that the drone was neutralized at 2:33 a.m. after the application of electronic countermeasures, which caused it to crash on a city street. No injuries were reported, and an investigation has been launched to determine the details of the incident. The model of the equipment could not be identified from the released images.
The incident heightened concerns about airspace security in the region. A day earlier, a Shahed-type drone, also unidentified, was spotted near Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, after entering from Belarusian territory. Authorities announced additional measures to strengthen air control.
