A Facebook account called Chris Kuna Drive went viral after posting a video of a truck driver revealing that he has driven over 5 million km across the U.S. The account stated that he bought the vehicle “brand new.”
The truck driver, whose identity was not revealed, said the truck was a 1999 Peterbilt with an 18-speed transmission. The interviewer asked how many kilometers he had driven. “5 million,” the driver replied.
“Wow, you bought it new?” asked the interviewer, before turning the camera to the Peterbilt in question.
“It had 45 km when I bought it,” said the man. “Caterpillar engine, the same engine since I bought it,” he continued.
The truck driver said he had done three complete overhauls. During the overhauls, the vehicle is “rebuilt,” meaning its main components have been refurbished.
When asked when he would part with the truck, the man said he didn’t know. “I’ll never get rid of it. I was supposed to retire this year, but I don’t know. We’ll see how it goes,” he said.
“This guy is probably making a lot of money with this truck. He must have bought it new for $80,000 plus $60,000 for the three overhauls, $140,000 total, and probably earned $2 million in profit,” one user calculated.
Another calculated that the driver drove more than 203,000 km per year.
“The real question is: how old is this man and why is he still working?” another said.
