A man and his dog were narrowly missed by a train at Blakedown station in Worcestershire County, England, on Tuesday (13).

The man ignored the red signal indicating the arrival of the locomotive and crossed the barrier, risking his own life and that of the animal. They were not hit “by a matter of seconds”, reported the portal Birmingham Live.

Network Rail’s Chief Operational Risk Officer, Natalie Stretton, released the video of the incident as a warning to British citizens to be careful during this type of crossing.

“There’s no excuse for this kind of reckless behavior. The difference of just a few seconds could have led to a tragedy,” Stretton said in a statement on Network Rail’s page.

West Midlands Railway’s Director of Health, Safety, and Environment, Jamie Ainsworth, added: “I hope this video serves as a reminder to the public to stay focused, wait behind barriers, and follow instructions at crossings to remain safe at all times”.
