A New York taxi driver is warning city motorists after spotting a white Ford Escape equipped with a speed radar on its roof.

Frustrated Cabbie shared a video on TikTok showing the vehicle, which at first glance looks like a regular car. But sharper eyes may notice the black device mounted on the roof.

“So, you see this vehicle here and that thing on top. That’s the mobile radar. What’s on top is the flash. They’re usually city-owned vehicles with a municipal employee inside. So, be careful,” he warned.

The taxi driver also added that the city will place these mobile speed enforcement radars in strategic locations.

“They’ll position these vehicles strategically at specific intersections, especially near schools,” he continued, before emphasizing that drivers should stay alert if they spot Ford Escapes or white vans.

The video has already gained over 300,000 views and more than 700 comments from users shocked by New York City’s new stealthy enforcement tactic.

“New York wants to make driving a luxury,” joked one TikTok user. “It’s not about crime. It’s about what makes money,” said another. “They’re doing everything except improving quality of life,” lamented a third commenter.
