A man identified as Luis Escalada, 40, fractured his hip after jumping from his balcony to prevent his work motorcycle from being stolen. The incident happened last Thursday (10th) in Argentina, and was recorded by security cameras.
The video shows the moment when two men park next to the motorcycle to steal it, when Luis is seen jumping from the balcony and falling to the ground. He managed to prevent the theft but fractured his hip.
Luis is currently hospitalized at the Interzonal General Hospital of Agudos (HIGA). “It was a state of desperation, it came from my soul,” he said, according to the Argentine newspaper La Nación.
“I work with this, I live from this, and it was an instinct. I don’t know if it was the right thing to do, but it was what I felt,” Luis continued. The man will need to get a hip prosthesis, but the community has already mobilized to raise funds and cover the operation costs.
