Denmark has already delivered most of the 19 F-16 fighter jets promised to Ukraine as part of its military aid, with the remaining aircraft expected to arrive soon.

This initiative is part of an international effort led by Denmark and the Netherlands to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense by training pilots and technicians to operate the fighter jets.

Last December, the second batch of Danish aircraft was sent, while the first batch had already been used to intercept Russian missiles.

The fighter jets provided by Denmark underwent a modernization process in the early 2000s, receiving upgrades such as a more advanced AN/APG-66(V)2 radar. The deliveries were planned in three phases, and by November of last year, the Ukrainian Air Force already had six of these aircraft.

Denmark is gradually replacing its F-16s with new fifth-generation F-35A jets, having received three additional units in January 2025.

Recently, Ukraine achieved a historic feat by shooting down six Russian cruise missiles in a single combat mission with an F-16. This event highlights the importance of these fighter jets arriving on the battlefield, providing enhanced defense capabilities against aerial attacks.
