Delta Air Lines, celebrating its centenary, is investing in innovative technologies for the future of aviation, including the use of artificial intelligence and strategic partnerships in the technology, shared transport, and aerospace sectors.

During CES 2025, CEO Ed Bastian revealed that electric air taxis (eVTOLs) could begin operating in the next two years, in partnership with Joby Aviation, which has already made progress in the certification process with the FAA.

The initiative aims to solve ground traffic congestion by offering an air taxi service for routes such as from Westchester to JFK in New York, reducing travel time from two hours to just 15 minutes. The CEO emphasized that using these aircraft will allow passengers to quickly access VIP areas like the Delta SkyMiles Club before their flights.

Joby Aviation is testing its aircraft in collaboration with the FAA and has completed significant steps in the certification process.

Ed Bastian highlighted that this innovation is not just about technology, but also about adding value by enhancing the mobility experience and saving time for travelers.
