French manufacturer Dassault Aviation has completed the production of the first Rafale B fighter intended for the Indonesian Air Force. The aircraft, identified by serial number T-0301, was seen in July 2025 at the company’s factory in Bordeaux.
Indonesia has ordered 42 units of the Rafale fighter in various contracts, aimed at modernizing and expanding its fleet of combat aircraft, with the first delivery expected in 2026 and the completion of deliveries by 2035.
In the first half of 2025, Dassault produced seven Rafale fighters, three for use by France and four for export, including the Indonesian order. The agreement with Indonesia involves not only the sale of the aircraft but also crew training, logistical support for multiple airbases, and the establishment of a training center with full simulators. Indonesia plans to replace the purchase of Russian Su-35 fighters with French Rafale and American F-15EX models.
Additionally, the country has also signed a contract for the acquisition of 48 Turkish KAAN fighters, an agreement finalized during the IDEF25 defense fair in Istanbul. This diversification of suppliers reflects Indonesia’s strategy to strengthen its military air capabilities with modern aircraft from different origins.
