A mechanic posted a video explaining why some cars make a “crunching” sound and issued a warning about the consequences of not paying attention to this sign.
In the clip, posted on Facebook, the RCJ Mobile Mechanics mechanic shared the sounds of the most common automotive problems, including issues with the serpentine belt, piston, rocker arm, ignition, among others.
“Any grinding, knocking, […] or rattling noise is not ‘normal.’ These noises mean something is wearing out or about to fail. Catch it early or pay later,” the mechanic warned.
In the comments, a user asked the mechanic about a “crunching sound” that his car makes whenever he turns the steering wheel. This noise was attributed to a possible problem with the CV joint.
While others shared their automotive issues in hopes of receiving a diagnosis, at the end of the day, only a qualified mechanic can identify the problem through an in-person visit to a repair shop.
Think of cars as people and mechanics as doctors. A remote consultation can help in mild cases, but only a physical inspection allows for a complete diagnosis and proper treatment.
