A company that posted a video showing the deep-cleaning process of a Cadillac Coupe DeVille supposedly “abandoned” has left internet users intrigued.

In the clip, shared on social media by vehicle detailing company WD Detailing, the team is shown finding a 2003-registered Cadillac Coupe DeVille that was allegedly abandoned in a garage for 22 years.

The team, having received permission from the owner to restore the vehicle, showed the car’s condition, which was completely covered in dirt and dust. The interior, while not perfect, was in better condition.

The WD staff then decided to take it to their workshop. There, they began the intensive process of deep-cleaning the vehicle. But after a low-pressure hose wash, a flawless red paint was revealed underneath the dust.

This detail left internet users quite puzzled. If the car had been abandoned for so long to accumulate that much dust and dirt, how could the paint still be so perfect?

“This dirt preserved the paint! Who would have thought,” joked one commenter on the Facebook video. “You just sprayed dirt and dust on it, but it’s still satisfying to watch,” analyzed another internet user.

Despite some users’ assumptions, others suggested the paint remained nice because the car was kept in an indoor garage, and extreme elements are what ruin abandoned cars. “As long as it’s stored inside, this dust won’t scratch anything,” stated another Facebook user.
