The Changsha Police in China have begun using glasses equipped with artificial intelligence to facilitate the identification of offenders in just two seconds.

The smart glasses, developed by the company Rokid, are being introduced to police forces as a lighter and more practical alternative to previously used equipment such as scanners and radios.

The device features a 12 MP camera capable of automatically recognizing license plates through a system called Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR), which has an accuracy rate above 99%.

On a single charge, the glasses operate for up to eight hours of continuous use, and the technology continues to function even without an internet connection, delivering results in just one second.

The glasses can also perform recognition under low-visibility conditions, such as at night, in dark locations, or under strong sunlight.

After identifying a vehicle, the glasses connect to the public security database to retrieve real-time data, including inspection history, violation records, and vehicle registration status.

The glasses are also capable of driver facial recognition, real-time voice translation in over 10 languages, and video recording to document interventions.

Thanks to this system, inspection time for a single lane has dropped from about 30 seconds to just one or two seconds.

The introduction of the glasses also reduces manual work, lowers stress for police officers, enables contactless enforcement, and helps make roadside checks safer and more accurate.
