The D7 DMH, a plug-in hybrid sedan from the Chinese manufacturer Roewe, has set a world record for range by traveling 2,208 km without needing to refuel or recharge, according to the Guinness Book of Records.
This impressive feat is attributed to the vehicle’s efficient fuel consumption, averaging 40.16 km per liter.
The four-day journey between the cities of Lanzhou and Urumqi exposed the car to temperature variations ranging from -8 °C to 30 °C and altitudes of up to 1,600 meters, conditions that the model overcame with stable performance.
To achieve this level of efficiency, the D7 DMH features energy optimization technologies such as a thermal efficiency of 43% and a compression ratio of 16:1, factors that ensure fuel savings for 85% of its usage time, according to Roewe.
The vehicle’s mechanics combine a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with an electric motor, delivering 204 horsepower and a torque of 33.6 kgf/m. This enables the sedan to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 185 km/h.
In addition to its range record, the D7 DMH also offers 125 km of exclusive electric range with a 21.4 kWh battery, extending its total range to 1,400 km.
