China showcased four new unmanned combat drones (UCAVs), including stealth and large-scale models, during the Victory Day parade on September 3, 2025.
In addition to the already known GJ-11 Sharp Sword and a Wing Loong-like drone, previously unseen prototypes were displayed, which may indicate future additions to the People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF).
Among the highlights, an aircraft numbered 53431 drew attention with a top air intake and an internal weapons bay, suggesting a “missile truck” role capable of operating in coordination with manned fighters. Another model, identified as 53432, features diamond-shaped wings and a supersonic air intake without a diverter (DSI), emphasizing aerodynamic efficiency and stealth.
Two large flying-wing drones were also displayed, numbered 53536 and 53636, both inspired by features of the J-20 and J-35 fighters. With powerful engines and a design that prioritizes endurance and low detectability, these models indicate that China is investing in versatile platforms capable of attack, reconnaissance, and air support missions.
The display highlights the rapid industrial advancement of China in this sector, contrasting with the caution of the United States in simultaneously developing next-generation fighters.
