A team from the YouTube channel Channel 199 performed a daring stunt by launching a Chevrolet Corvette C8 off a dirt ramp at Travis Pastrana’s Dirt Playground. The car flew more than 30 meters and barely managed to land.
The idea came after Pastrana, known for his extreme stunts, won a Corvette Z06 in a race but chose to sell it and use a regular Stingray for the challenge, which was painted with the U.S. flag in an improvised style.
Driver York had the task of reaching the ideal speed on a narrow dirt track, accelerating up to about 113 km/h before hitting the ramp. After some tests, he performed the final jump, but the deceleration during the climb caused the speed to drop to 103 km/h at takeoff, the minimum required. The Corvette barely cleared the distance, landing on its front end and triggering the airbag due to the impact.

Despite the challenge, the jump was considered a success, and Pastrana reviewed the data using Chevrolet’s onboard recording system. He believes the jump could be repeated more safely and without damage if there is more speed and continuous acceleration through the ramp.
Excited with the result, Pastrana even suggested he might attempt the stunt himself in a future try.
