Caterpillar, the company behind the famous yellow construction equipment, has shared a concept that could mark its entry into the pickup truck market.
Using as inspiration some images generated by artificial intelligence that were shared online at the end of 2024, Caterpillar developed the Cat Truck concept, a heavy-duty pickup that carries the CAT logo and the classic yellow tones on its body.
“You couldn’t look away, and neither could we. [Customers] were dreaming about torque and towing power. Those were the easy parts for Caterpillar, so we went further to see how we could help them even more,” the company wrote in a statement.
The truck is basically a Ford Super Duty with the CAT logo, but it includes some interesting features, such as a drone launch station, a driver fatigue monitoring system, and a camera system to detect whether workers are too close to heavy machinery.
The pickup also features an additional screen on the dashboard that houses the company’s artificial intelligence assistant, along with the rest of the monitoring software mentioned above.

Interested? For now, everything indicates that it is only a concept, and Caterpillar has not yet confirmed whether the project will actually go into production.
Still, unlike other prototypes that seem too good to be true, it’s not hard to imagine the CAT pickup hitting the streets in the future.
