Owners of some Audi electric vehicles will be able to turn their cars into video games on wheels thanks to the integration of a system called AirConsole.
This feature, which was already available in some BMW and Mini models, allows the driver and passengers to play games on the car’s screens while using their smartphones as controllers.
AirConsole is now available in the Audi Application Store in the United States for vehicles based on the PPE and PPC platforms, including the A6 E-Tron and Q6 E-Tron. Beyond the electrics, the novelty is also coming to the combustion engine models A5 and Q5.
Currently, the library has 12 games, including GoKart GO!, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, and Pictionary Car Party. The games can be displayed on the central infotainment screen or on the front passenger display in cars equipped with the system.

Each game comes with its own controller, and users need to scan a QR code for the controller to work on their phone. Using a separate smartphone app is recommended, but the mobile browser can also work.
It is worth noting that to use AirConsole, a myAudi account, an active Audi Connect Plus subscription, and a stable 4G LTE or 5G cellular connection are required.
Additionally, while you can access basic AirConsole features for free, a separate subscription is necessary to unlock the ability to play with unlimited players and to remove ads.
