Canadian company Roshel, in partnership with Italian company Leonardo, unveiled a new anti-drone armored vehicle, the Senator MRAP, equipped with a combat system based on the Falcon Shield, already used by the Canadian Armed Forces. The new vehicle will be showcased at the CANSEC 2025 international defense expo.

The system offers advanced capabilities to detect, track, identify, and geolocate drones using electro-optical and electronic sensors combined with radar. One highlight is the electronic warfare module, which allows drones to be safely neutralized and forced to land.

Originally designed for police use, the Senator was developed on the chassis of the Ford F-550 pickup but underwent modifications for military use, especially in conflict zones like Ukraine. The MRAP version (Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected) received reinforced armor against bullets and shrapnel, as well as a V-shaped bottom that helps dissipate the energy of explosions up to 6 kg of TNT.

The vehicle also features a reinforced chassis, 4×4 drive, and a 6.7-liter turbo diesel engine with over 300 hp, capable of running on various types of fuel. For combat operations, the frontline version also includes a winch and infrared lighting, enabling night missions.

Roshel emphasizes that this innovation strengthens Canada’s industrial and defense sovereignty.
