General Dynamics Land Systems unveiled in Canada the new version of the LAV 6.0 armored personnel carrier during the CANSEC expo.
The LAV 6.0 Mk 2 is an 8×8 platform with design and combat capability improvements over previous versions, including a redesigned turret with more powerful weaponry and enhanced tactical performance.
The vehicle’s main armament is a 30 mm XM813 automatic cannon with programmable ammunition, capable of operating in impact detonation, high-explosive, and airburst fragmentation modes — ideal for targeting enemy troops and drones. The turret is also equipped with launchers for Switchblade loitering munitions and anti-tank missiles.
Additionally, the armored vehicle features reinforced protection against projectiles up to 14.5 mm, new diagnostic systems, and a 450 hp engine capable of reaching 100 km/h on roads and 40 km/h off-road.
Currently, Ukraine uses the LAV 6.0 in the Armored Combat Support Vehicle (ACSV) configuration. The Canadian government has already confirmed the donation of 50 units of this model to the country.
