Canada has announced a new military aid package for Ukraine that includes more than 400 armored vehicles and the extension of the Operation UNIFIER training mission until 2029.

The measure was disclosed on February 24, 2026, marking four years since the start of the large-scale invasion launched by Russia, reinforcing Ottawa’s commitment to Kyiv in a conflict that is now entering its fifth year.

The package provides approximately US$2 billion in assistance for the 2026–27 fiscal year. The equipment includes 66 LAV 6 units manufactured by General Dynamics and 383 Senator vehicles produced by Roshel. According to the Canadian government, the armored vehicles will enhance the protected mobility of Ukrainian forces and address operational demands on the battlefield.

Senator vehicles have become one of the main mobility assets supplied by Western partners to Ukraine. According to Roshel CEO Roman Shimonov, more than 2,000 units have been delivered since 2022. Used for troop transport, medical evacuation, and convoy escort, the armored vehicles stand out for their simplified maintenance and rapid production capability.

In addition to military support, Canada has increased economic pressure on Moscow with new sanctions against individuals, companies, and vessels linked to the so-called Russian shadow fleet, as well as a reduction in the price cap on Russian oil. Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand also announced additional resources for the recovery of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, which has been hit by attacks throughout the conflict.
