A 68-year-old wheelchair user was dragged for several meters by a truck on a road in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
The accident, which occurred on Monday (23), was caught on security cameras and shows the moment when the vehicle touches the back of retiree Luiz Jaeger and traps him on the bumper. Despite the scare, he did not suffer serious injuries.
According to the family, the elderly man was traveling along a road when he was hit, as the area has no proper sidewalks, forcing him to move along the roadway. Witnesses shouted to alert the driver, who eventually stopped and allowed Luiz to be removed from in front of the truck. Still, the driver reportedly left the scene without offering assistance.
The victim’s granddaughter, Nicolly Jaeger, stated that her grandfather felt back pain but chose not to go to the hospital and is recovering at home. A police report was filed by the family on Wednesday (25) and will be forwarded to the Traffic Offenses Police Department, which will assess whether to open an investigation or close the case.
