The Bugatti has developed a new chassis for the hypercar Tourbillon, which cannot use the platform of the Veyron and Chiron models due to new regulations and a hybrid powertrain.
The challenge for the engineers was to create a car with dimensions similar to those of the Chiron, but that could accommodate a V-16 engine, an electric motor, a dual-clutch transmission, a front axle with two motors, and batteries.
To fit all these components, the V-16 engine was positioned closer to the rear wall, with fuel tanks on either side. The batteries are arranged in a “T” configuration behind the seats and in the central tunnel.

Additionally, the seats were moved closer together and fixed to optimize space, while the front electric motor is located behind the luggage compartment.
Even with these changes, the wheelbase of the Tourbillon is slightly longer than that of the Chiron, and the roofline is lower.
An important innovation is the carbon fiber diffuser, which also acts as a rear impact structure, eliminating the need for a separate beam. The Tourbillon stands out with eight radiators and uses “skeletonized” suspension arms 3D-printed by Divergent, known for developing the Czinger 21C.
