Helicopters from the Brazilian Army caught attention in Valença, in the south of Rio de Janeiro, as they flew over the city carrying military vehicles.

The operation was part of Operation Tormenta 2025, conducted from September 9 to 12, and marked the first time such maneuvers took place in the municipality, home to the 1st Air Cavalry Squadron.

According to the Army, the training involved an HM-3 Cougar helicopter, an HA-1A Fennec, and teams from the 1st Army Aviation Battalion (1st BAvEx). The goal was to enhance the planning and execution of large-scale air assault operations, as well as to train for aerial navigation and the helicopter transport of vehicles, an activity requiring precision and careful preparation.

The maneuvers also included infiltration exercises, reconnaissance, intelligence gathering, and combat shooting evaluations. In addition to the 1st Air Cavalry Squadron, military personnel from the 2nd Precursor Company, the 22nd Air Logistics Battalion, and the 12th Air Combat Engineering Company participated, reinforcing the integration between different units of the Airborne Infantry Brigade.
