Bosch, the traditional tool manufacturer, is now innovating in the electric bike sector with a security technology that allows users to remotely lock the battery through the Flow+ app.
When the bike is turned off, the battery can be digitally locked, and if someone tries to install it on another Bosch electric bike, it won’t work because the lock is linked to the owner’s credentials.
Additionally, as explained in a company conference video, if the battery is stolen, the bike’s motor will also be disabled, making it unusable.

This new feature will also allow owners to create digital keys for family members or friends, enabling shared access to a single bike. The update will be available this summer through a remote update for bikes equipped with Bosch’s smart system, which already offers other security solutions such as locks and alarms controlled by smartphones.
Although this technology is a significant advancement, Bosch admits that no digital system is completely secure. There is always the risk of hackers, as can be seen on platforms selling hacks for electric bikes.
However, the company’s goal is to make theft more difficult and inconvenient, encouraging thieves to move on in search of an easier target.
