A recent study by LendingTree revealed that BMW drivers lead the statistics of driving under the influence (DUI) in major U.S. cities, with a rate of 3.09 offenses for every 1,000 drivers.

The Ram brand follows closely behind, with other luxury automakers such as Acura, Audi, and Volvo rounding out the list. On the other hand, drivers of Mercury vehicles recorded the lowest rate, with just 0.86 cases per thousand.

The survey also found that Generation Z (ages 19 to 27) is the most involved in DUI offenses, surpassing Millennials. The rate of occurrences tends to decrease with age, being the lowest among members of the “silent generation,” with just 0.21 offenses per thousand drivers.

Among the cities evaluated, Omaha (Nebraska) had the highest rate of DUIs, while Chicago (Illinois) had the lowest. Six of the ten cities with the worst results are located in California, highlighting the state’s strong dependence on cars.
