BMW unveiled the Concept M Neue Klasse during the 24 Hours of Le Mans, a prototype that previews the next generation of high-performance vehicles from the M division and offers the clearest vision yet of the future electric successor to the iconic M3.
Visually, the concept features an aggressive appearance, with widened fenders, aerodynamic elements integrated into the bodywork, and a new interpretation of BMW’s traditional front grille.
One of the highlights is the yellow lighting inspired by the BMW M Hybrid V8 racing prototype, as well as the new “Track Lights“, which are expected to become a visual signature of future M models.

Inside, the vehicle adopts an approach heavily inspired by motorsport, with bucket seats, five-point harnesses, and a driver-focused cockpit. Driving information is displayed on a panoramic screen positioned at the base of the windshield, replacing the traditional instrument cluster.
BMW also confirmed that the concept uses an 800-volt electric architecture and a propulsion system with four electric motors, one for each wheel. The setup is controlled by a system called M Dynamic Performance Control, integrated into the central computer “Heart of Joy“, responsible for managing traction, braking, and vehicle dynamics in real time.

Although the automaker has not released official power figures, analysts believe the future production version could exceed 600 horsepower and even approach 1,000 hp in more extreme variants. The model is expected to reach the market around 2027, initially coexisting with combustion-engine versions of the M3.

The Concept M Neue Klasse is part of the Neue Klasse strategy, a platform that will serve as the basis for the next generation of BMW electric vehicles. The company said the new architecture will gradually be expanded to much of its lineup by the end of the decade, marking one of the biggest technological transformations in the history of the German manufacturer.
“With the new design language for BMW M automobiles, we are presenting the most expressive interpretation of Neue Klasse design. Genuine aerodynamics and functional design that is more than aesthetics — it is the soul of the vehicle, making performance tangible even when stationary,” said Oliver Heilmer, Head of Design BMW Compact Class, Neue Klasse & BMW M.
