To celebrate 50 years of the 3 Series, BMW has announced a special edition of the M340i xDrive, called the 50 Jahre Edition.
The BMW 3 Series was first introduced to the world in July 1975 at the Olympic Stadium in Munich. Over its five decades, the cars have amassed significant sales and have seen seven generations to date.
Now, to commemorate the 50 years of 3 Series sales, BMW is launching a new special edition of the M340i xDrive called the 50 Jahre Edition.
As the 50 Jahre edition celebrates the history of the 3 Series, BMW is bringing back paint colors from five previous generations of the sedan, including the E21, E30, E36, E46, and E90.
The interior of each Jahre Edition special edition matches the chosen paint color. Additionally, for the first time in the United States, the 3 Series comes equipped with the option of extended Merino leather.

Cars in Ruby Red Metallic come with an ivory interior and red brake calipers, while cars in Boston Green Metallic and Avus Blue Metallic feature Tartufo upholstery and blue brake calipers.
Meanwhile, cars in Carbon Black Metallic come with black upholstery and black brake calipers, and finally, cars in Sparkling Graphite Metallic have Tartufo interior and red brake calipers.
The special edition also comes equipped with the Shadowline package, which includes adaptive LED headlights and Shadowline details on the front grille and lower air intake, as well as a subtle carbon fiber spoiler on the rear.
Being a special edition, it is clear that the 50 Jahre Edition will not come cheap. While the model is mechanically identical to its standard counterpart, the Jahre has a starting price of $76,375, which makes it $11,500 more expensive than the regular M340i xDrive 2026 version.

However, to ensure that no one mistakes it for a regular M340i xDrive, there is a metal plaque with the inscription “30 Series 50 Jahre Edition” on the cupholder lid. Additionally, the same message adorns the front door sills.
No options are added, as everything is already included as standard. Production of the Jahre models has already begun, and BMW expects deliveries to start in the first quarter of 2026.
