Billionaire Clive Palmer, mining magnate, has reignited his plans to build a replica of the Titanic. However, he emphasized that he will give his own twist to the design of the iconic cruise ship.

The 69-year-old Australian promised that his ship will be “much, much superior to the original.” Palmer first launched plans for the Titanic II in 2012. In 2018, his second attempt was thwarted by Covid-19.
“It’s much more fun to build the Titanic than to sit at home counting my money,” he said. The maiden voyage from Southampton to New York, just like the journey that led to the tragedy with the original ship, is scheduled for June 2027.
The ship will have the same interiors and cabin layout as the original ship, complete with a ballroom, swimming pool, and Turkish bath. Nearly half of the 835 cabins will be reserved for first-class passengers, who are expected to dress in 20th-century attire.
Third-class passengers will receive stew and mash served at long tables in a communal dining room, much like on the original ship, although other meals will also be available.
The Titanic sank on April 15, 1912, claiming about 1,500 passengers and crew. Palmer said that Jack and Rose’s love story “touches everyone’s heart.” “Titanic II is something that can bring peace. It can be a peace ship among all the countries of the world,” he added.
