Belarus has expanded its air defense arsenal with the arrival of a new Tor-M2K battery, bringing the total number of operational units in the country to eight.

The delivery, announced by the Ministry of Defense, is part of ongoing military cooperation between Minsk and Moscow within the integrated air defense system established by the two allies.

The first contracts for the Tor-M2K were signed in 2015, and deliveries began the following year. Although the initial agreement covered only five batteries, Russia increased the supply after the start of the war in Ukraine, transferring at least 15 systems to the Belarusian government. The creation of an integrated air defense system between the two countries also led Belarus to request additional units.

The Tor-M2K, mounted on the local MZKT-6922 chassis, retains the same capabilities as the Russian version, carrying 16 missiles and operating with two radars dedicated to detection and guidance. The system can track up to 48 targets, guide four missiles simultaneously, and perform interceptions up to 16 km away, significantly enhancing Belarus’s defensive capability.
