Audi is recalling over 44,000 vehicles manufactured in 2021 due to a failure in the driver’s digital dashboard, which can suddenly turn off. Models such as the A6, Q7, RS6, and other sedans and SUVs from the brand are affected.

The issue is related to a power fluctuation that causes the system to shut off the display as a protective measure, which poses a safety risk by depriving the driver of essential information such as speed.

The origin of the defect lies in a cable that may wear out over time, increasing electrical resistance and triggering an internal failure. Audi discovered the fault in April 2024 and identified that 2022 vehicles already use a different cable, which restricts the recall to 2021 models only.

So far, more than 2,000 customer complaints have been registered, although there have been no reports of accidents, fires, or injuries related to the issue.

To fix the fault, Audi will release a software update that will make the system less sensitive to small power variations, preventing the display from shutting off. However, a warning will be displayed to the driver recommending that the system be checked. Notifications to dealers are already underway, and owners will begin to be informed by May 30.
