Audi has announced the creation of a new technology center in Bicester, UK, as part of its preparation for entry into Formula 1 in 2026.
The facility will be operated by Sauber Motorsport, the team that Audi will take over next year. Located in the heart of “Motorsport Valley,” a region that hosts several F1 teams, the center aims to strengthen the brand’s presence in the competitive environment of the category.
Despite this new development, Sauber’s Swiss base in Hinwil will remain active and will be complemented by the new UK facility. The goal is to leverage local expertise and make it easier to recruit new talent who may not be willing to relocate to Switzerland. According to Mattia Binotto, head of the Audi F1 project, the center represents an important step in building the team and strengthening its technical capabilities.
The headquarters will be located in building 123 at the Bicester Motion property, which spans 444 acres and already hosts various companies from the automotive and aerospace sectors, as well as Motorsport UK. According to Bicester Motion CEO Daniel Geoghegan, the choice of location reinforces Audi’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and high performance in motorsport.
