The California-based startup Aptera has achieved a historic milestone by covering approximately 480 km with its solar-powered electric vehicle.

Co-CEO Steve Fambro drove the vehicle from Flagstaff, Arizona, to Imperial Valley, California, testing its performance under real conditions and showcasing the project’s potential for sustainable mobility.

The model stands out with its futuristic design and lightweight carbon fiber body, equipped with 700-watt solar panels, allowing it to drive up to 64 km per day without recharging. For longer trips, the Launch Edition version offers batteries providing a range of up to 640 km, with an option extending to 1,610 km. The car features a 201 hp motor and can reach speeds of up to 162 km/h.

With 48,000 reservations already recorded, Aptera plans to begin production this year, aiming to manufacture 20,000 units annually by 2027. The starting price for the model in the United States will be $40,000.

The successful journey reinforces interest in the vehicle and highlights its potential as an innovation in the solar-powered car industry.
