Kia Syros: compact with a peculiar design promises technology and comfort at an affordable price (Instagram @kia.worldwide)
The Kia Syros is a new compact crossover launched in India, positioned above the Sonet in the local portfolio. With a length of only 3.9 meters, the model features a peculiar design, including vertical headlights placed at the edges, silver details, and two-level rear taillights.
Despite its controversial appearance, the square shape offers good cargo capacity (465 liters) and generous interior space, thanks to a 2.55-meter wheelbase. Premium versions include a dual panoramic sunroof and wheels up to 17 inches.
The model offers combustion engines: a 1.0 turbo gasoline engine (118 hp) and a 1.5 diesel engine (114 hp), both with a choice of manual or automatic transmission. Technological features include nearly 30 inches of digital screens, wireless compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an induction charger, and 64-color ambient lighting.
The Syros also comes with ventilated seats, a sliding rear seat, a Harman Kardon sound system, and various electronic controls, such as automatic parking brake.
In terms of safety, it has six airbags, parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and 16 driving assistants, such as adaptive speed control. Additionally, the vehicle supports remote updates, ensuring future improvements.
While the price has not yet been revealed, it is expected to be competitive, similar to the Skoda Kylaq, around $9,300. Based on the K1 platform, the Syros shares features with other compact models from Kia and Hyundai.
