The tank, identified as possibly a T-72, was operating in a densely wooded area. During the operation, a Ukrainian quadcopter recorded the attempt by a Russian FPV drone to attack.

In the video, the Russian drone can be seen rapidly approaching the Ukrainian tank. However, as it neared the target, the drone lost connection with its control panel, fell to the ground, and exploded at a safe distance from the armored vehicle.

Electronic Warfare as Defense

Although the brigade did not specify the type of electronic warfare system used, it is believed to be a system integrated directly into the tank. These systems are designed to interfere with the communication and remote control of drones, neutralizing threats before they can cause damage.

Since January 2024, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has made significant investments in electronic warfare technology. The Defense Procurement Agency has already signed contracts worth over 6 billion Ukrainian hryvnias (UAH), ensuring the supply of more than 11,000 units of electronic warfare equipment.

Transfer of Equipment to the Armed Forces

A large portion of this equipment has already been delivered to Ukraine’s Armed Forces. Between September and October 2024 alone, thousands of units worth over 1 billion hryvnias were ordered, further reinforcing the country’s defensive capabilities.

This incident highlights how investments in electronic warfare technology are helping Ukraine mitigate the impact of unmanned aerial vehicle attacks, one of the major threats in the current conflict.
