This new model includes an anti-drone protective grid, a modernization implemented to meet the needs of soldiers in the war with Ukraine.

Uralvagonzavod engineers carried out a significant update on the TOS-1A combat vehicle, adjusting various components. Before delivery to the customer, the equipment underwent rigorous performance testing, during which specialists assessed the quality of installation, the functioning of mechanisms and devices, as well as the “Solntsepek’s” drivability under various road conditions.

Last year, Uralvagonzavod significantly increased production of the TOS-1A Solntsepek system. This production increase was made possible by facility expansion, the introduction of a 24-hour work regime in two shifts, and an increase in staffing.

The TOS-1 was initially designed to destroy enemy fortifications in open areas and light armored transport vehicles. Its first use in combat took place between 1988 and 1989 in the Panjshir Valley during the Soviet-Afghan War. First publicly showcased in 1999 in Omsk, the TOS-1 is now primarily used by units defending against chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats, with the capability to fire thermobaric warheads.
