Embraer and U.S. company Anduril have announced a partnership to integrate the Barracuda-500M autonomous air vehicle into the C-390 Millennium military transport aircraft.

The goal is to enable the aircraft to conduct palletized launches of long-range munitions, significantly expanding its range of missions. The agreement was signed during the Farnborough International Air Show and marks another step in the evolution of the C-390 as a multimission platform.

The new capability will allow the C-390 to carry and launch various weapons using pallets installed in its cargo compartment through a “roll-on/roll-off” system. According to Embraer, this solution will support modern military operations with greater flexibility while preserving all of the aircraft’s traditional tactical transport functions.

The Barracuda-500M has already undergone similar tests in the United States as part of the Enterprise Test Vehicle (ETV) program, demonstrating autonomous navigation and precise guidance to the target.

The Barracuda-500M is part of a family of autonomous air vehicles developed to offer low cost, large-scale production, and rapid adaptation to battlefield requirements.

The strike version has a range of up to 926 kilometers and can reach a speed of 926 km/h, depending on the payload configuration. Anduril has also secured a contract to supply thousands of these munitions to the United States Army and is expanding its international presence, including through a production agreement in Poland.

In addition to its partnership with Anduril, Embraer is also strengthening its presence in Europe through industrial agreements with Polish companies to support the C-390. For both companies, the integration of the Barracuda-500M represents a new capability for allied air forces, enabling long-range strikes from an already established transport platform while increasing interoperability and operational efficiency in modern combat scenarios.
