Brian Uriarte claimed a victory decided in the final meters of the Moto3 German Grand Prix. The Spaniard from Red Bull KTM Ajo beat Máximo Quiles by just 0.063 seconds after 23 laps at the Sachsenring circuit.
The race began with five riders battling for the leading positions. Uriarte, who started from pole position for the first time in his career, took the lead in the opening laps and remained in the front group throughout the race.
The 17-year-old was joined by riders including Quiles, Matteo Bertelle, Marco Morelli, and Rico Salmela. In the closing stages, however, the fight for victory came down to Uriarte and the championship leader.
The KTM rider matched his rival’s pace, preserved his tires, and prepared his attack for the final lap. The decisive overtake took place at turn 3, where Uriarte moved into the lead and managed to hold on until the finish line.
The result marked his second victory of the 2026 season and his third podium of the year.
“I wanted to understand how Máximo was managing his tires. In the final laps, my chest protector moved slightly out of place, but I managed to forget the discomfort and went after the victory,” Uriarte said.
The Spaniard admitted that he had to take risks in the final corners to retain first place.
“I had to take risks all the way to the final corner. The front end was sliding, and the bike was moving sideways. I want to thank the entire team, which is helping me grow as a rider and also as a person,” he said.
Uriarte moves into second place in the Moto3 standings
With the victory, Uriarte reached 127 points and moved into second place in the Moto3 standings. Quiles remains in first place with 231 points and a 104-point advantage over the KTM rider.
Carpe is third with 126 points, followed by Marco Morelli with 115 points. KTM also remains at the top of the constructors’ championship.
