Russia has begun using a new model of kamikaze drone equipped with a TM-62 anti-tank mine weighing approximately 10 kg, expanding its strike capability compared with the already known Molniya-2.

The aircraft was identified and shot down by a Ukrainian interceptor drone before reaching its target.

Images of the interception were released by Serhii “Flash” Beskrestnov, an adviser to Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense. According to the information, the new unmanned aerial vehicle has two engines and fixed wings, a configuration that significantly increases its range, allowing flights of dozens or even hundreds of kilometers.

Although it features a more elaborate design than improvised models built with commercial tubes, the drone maintains a simple and low-cost structure. Its fuselage is made of wooden components and does not use fairings, following characteristics already seen in other Russian drones from the Molniya family.

Another detail revealed is that the system transmits images on frequencies between 2.0 and 2.1 GHz. The explosive payload is installed at the front of the aircraft and consists of a TM-62 anti-tank mine, which is triggered on impact by a contact fuze or an adapted mechanism.
