Turkey has received a new batch of TAYFUN Block-2 ballistic missiles produced by national company ROKETSAN, as confirmed by the country’s Ministry of Defense.

The delivery represents the second official shipment made in consecutive months, reinforcing the expansion of Turkey’s strategic arsenal. Although the number of units was not disclosed, the package also included weapons transporter vehicles and unmanned vessel systems intended for the Special Forces Command.

The TAYFUN is the first short-range ballistic missile developed entirely by Turkey’s defense industry and has an estimated range of 561 kilometers. Its flight profile, which takes it into the upper layers of the atmosphere before striking the target at hypersonic speed, makes it harder to intercept compared with cruise missiles. The Block-2 version represents an evolution of the original model, although Turkish authorities have not yet revealed which improvements were incorporated into the system.

Production of the TAYFUN is part of Turkey’s strategy to expand its autonomy in the defense sector. In recent years, ROKETSAN has established itself as one of the country’s leading weapons manufacturers, developing everything from guided and cruise missiles to anti-tank and air defense systems. The strengthening of the national industry gained momentum after Turkey was excluded from the F-35 program in 2019, prompting Ankara to accelerate investments in its own technologies.

In addition to the missiles, the new batch included mobile launcher vehicles, essential for increasing operational flexibility and reducing the vulnerability of the systems during military operations. Karayel Hull Boat unmanned vessels were also delivered, intended for reconnaissance missions and naval mine deployment, showing that Turkey is simultaneously maintaining several strategic programs to modernize its military capabilities.
