Ducati has decided to dive headfirst into the mud. The Italian brand has unveiled the Desmo450 EDS, its first modern enduro motorcycle, bringing to trails, rocks, roots and timed special stages a formula that blends competition, technology and the traditional sporting DNA of Borgo Panigale.
Derived from the technical base of the Desmo450 MX, the new enduro has been redesigned to tackle longer routes and more varied terrain. The proposal is to deliver a fast, controllable and less tiring motorcycle, both for professional riders and for amateurs who take enduro seriously.

The main highlight is the 449.6 cc single-cylinder engine with desmodromic valve timing, a rare solution in this segment. According to Ducati, the unit has been reworked to deliver more torque at low and mid-range revs, with progressive power delivery and greater control on technical sections, climbs, natural obstacles and high-speed special stages.
The chassis also received special attention. The Desmo450 EDS uses an aluminum perimeter frame, a 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel, Metzeler Six Days Extreme tires, adjustable Showa suspension and Brembo brakes with Galfer discs. Development involved Antoine Meo, multiple-time enduro world champion, reinforcing the brand’s intention not to treat the model merely as a motocross adaptation.

For off-road use, Ducati equipped the motorcycle with dedicated protection items, including hand guards, engine guards and reinforced covers for exposed components. The front end also features an LED headlight with a design inspired by the brand’s superbikes, while the LCD display provides the essential information for the rider during riding.
Another point that draws attention is the electronics. With the Ducati Performance competition kit installed at an authorized dealership, the Desmo450 EDS gains enduro-specific traction control, as well as Launch Control, Engine Brake Control, Quickshifter and riding modes configurable through the X-Link app. The traction system operates based on the actual slip of the rear wheel and can switch off automatically in situations such as jumps.

Maintenance has also gained a smarter approach. An algorithm calculates the engine’s stress level in real time, taking into account usage parameters and terrain type. As a result, service intervals may vary according to riding style, becoming shorter for intense use and more spaced out for amateur riders.
The Ducati Desmo450 EDS will initially be offered at selected dealerships in Europe from July 2026, with expansion to other markets later. The arrival of the model marks a new chapter for Ducati: now, the desmodromic roar also wants to echo far from the asphalt.
