
Canadian shipbuilder Davie and British company Kraken Technology Group have announced a strategic partnership to produce unmanned surface vessels (USVs) in Canada.
According to Naval News, the agreement includes the local manufacturing, integration, and development of Kraken’s autonomous platforms, expanding Canada’s industrial capabilities in the maritime defense sector.
According to the companies, production is expected to begin in the province of Quebec and will initially focus on the K3 Scout, a high-speed USV developed for military and commercial missions.

The K3 Scout is a compact and fast vessel designed to operate autonomously or via remote control. The platform can be equipped with various sensors, surveillance systems, and modular payloads, enabling its use in maritime patrol, intelligence gathering, electronic warfare, and coastal security missions.
Kraken stated that it is already producing vessels from the K3 family at a rapid pace in the United Kingdom and has also expanded production in Germany and the United States through other industrial partnerships.
The initiative comes amid growing global investment in unmanned platforms, driven by lessons learned from recent conflicts and increasing demand for systems that are more affordable and flexible than traditional crewed vessels.
